Matthew Griffin, who joined Booker T. Washington Elementary in July 2024, began his career in education with a commitment to fostering positive school cultures and high-quality instruction across various school levels.
Prior to FCPS, he was principal at Timbers Elementary in Humble Independent School District in Texas for two years. He also served as assistant principal at Woodcreek Middle School and Fall Creek Elementary, also in Texas. During his tenure, he led a comprehensive redesign of Campus Emergency Operations Plans and developed a professional learning plan that significantly reduced student discipline disparities.
Outside of his administrative duties, Griffin has been a strong advocate for educational growth and community engagement. He co-founded the Aspiring Administrators Network, providing district-level professional learning for future school leaders. His initiatives have consistently prioritized the professional growth of staff members and the development of trusting partnerships with families.
Griffin holds a bachelor’s in Education from Fairmont State University (West Virginia), a master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at Arlington, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Sam Houston State University (Texas).
